The Importance Of Preventative Dentistry
At Lincoln Crossings Dental Care, we want to help prevent dental issues from happening. We are only born with one set of adult teeth, and when those are not functioning properly, it is up to our team to help restore your oral health. This is why we are so passionate about preventative dentistry. When you care for your teeth properly, you have a better chance of having your natural teeth for your lifetime. Preventative dentistry focuses on keeping your teeth and mouth free from decay and disease. When you practice good preventative care, we are able to detect any problems in your mouth and treat them in the early stages. This benefits your oral and overall health.
What is Preventative Dental Care?
You may be surprised at all the areas that preventative dentistry entails. Every time you brush and floss your teeth, you are practicing preventative dental care. You also practice this each time you visit our office for a routine hygiene examination and cleaning. Other ways you practice preventative dental care include:
- Receiving a fluoride treatment
- Using mouthwash after brushing and flossing
- Getting an oral cancer screening during an examination
- Allowing us to take digital X-rays of teeth
Our Recommendations for the Best Way to Practice Preventative Dentistry
The best thing that you can do for your teeth and mouth is to stay on top of your oral health needs. It is extremely important to visit our office for a hygiene examination and cleaning at least every six months. During these appointments, we are able to detect any problem areas in the mouth and recommend treatment. We also want to remind you to brush your teeth for a minimum of two minutes twice daily. Don’t forget to use dental floss daily as well. Being that we see you so infrequently during the year, it is important to be mindful of your oral health. Check your teeth and gums and look for anything that doesn’t seem right. Be sure to contact us if you experience any discomfort or notice a problem.
If you are located in North Huntingdon, PA or the surrounding area and in need of dental care or are due for an oral hygiene examination, we would love to see you! Be sure to contact our team to schedule an appointment. We look forward to seeing you soon!
