Do Implants Hurt?
Are you in need of a tooth replacement and interested in learning more about dental implants as your final choice? Dental implants are a popular tooth replacement option due to the many benefits they provide. Not only do they restore the function of the teeth, but they also blend in seamlessly with the surrounding natural teeth. When patients learn more about dental implants, one of their main concerns is whether they will hurt. Dental implants are a more in-depth procedure than some other tooth replacement options, leading patients to wonder about the level of discomfort. Dr. Stryker recently took the opportunity to make a video explaining more about the process of dental implants and whether the treatment hurts or not. Do Dental Implants Hurt?
If you are unfamiliar, dental implants are a popular treatment that is used to replace the tooth root and the tooth structure. The process involves a small metal rod being surgically implanted into the jawbone. After a period of healing, the treatment is completed with the help of a dental crown, bridge, or dentures. Many patients are interested in this treatment but delay scheduling an appointment because they are concerned with the level of pain and discomfort that will be experienced due to the more in-depth procedure.
As Dr. Stryker explains in the video, the discomfort following the implantation into the jawbone is minimal and typically only lasts a day or two. When the procedure is straightforward, with no complications, most patients are able to take Tylenol or Ibuprofen to relieve the minor discomfort. It is not uncommon for patients to return to work later in the day or the next day.
